Since there are many more people today than ever before that are in credit trouble, there are credit repair companies and software systems that are being created to help with this issue. Unfortunately, there are opportunists that are not as interested in helping people with their credit repair issues as they are in making money off of people who are desperate for help out of their current situation. When people feel as though they are drowning under money troubles, they will often do anything to get out of it, even if it means spending more money. The scam credit repair companies take advantage of this desperation by making false claims about what they can do for these consumers so that they will pay up front for the services that the company is claiming to provide.

Credit Repair - Good Companies

Valid credit repair companies will never misrepresent themselves by claiming to be able to do amazing things for the consumers. The credit repair companies to trust are those who offer counseling to the clients first to see what the situation is so that they can offer some choices in solutions. If a company offers only a 'one size fits all' solution to the credit problem that the person has, it is probably not a company to be trusted and the consumer should look elsewhere. Once the counseling has been done, the person should also be advised of all the things that they can do to improve their credit for free, without the use of such a credit repair company.

Valid credit repair companies also do not require the person to pay up front for the services. Companies that are scams will require the person to pay up front for all the services that the company claims will help them. Often times, the services could be done by the client himself, through free means of clearing up certain credit issues. In addition, these credit repair companies are required to only have their clients pay if they actually complete the services that they are offering satisfactorily to the client. That way, the client is saved from losing more money by contracting with a credit repair company that makes false claims that they cannot possibly complete.

Another thing to beware of in false credit repair companies is the techniques that they might use to clear up credit scores. They might advise the consumer to dispute all of the bad credit that they have on their record even if they know that it is valid. This is fraud and should not be done.
